Celebrating Black History Month
Shea: "Thank you for your generous donation of ethnic hair care products. I am grateful and excited at the same time that we can provide hair and skin products to our families that we serve. Every time that I give to parents or foster parents instructions on how to use the products they feel empowered and motivated to use them. The products that you bought us will positively impact our families so that they can use the products that conform to each individual hair and texture that our children have. The skin care products are just right for the skin conditions that some of the children have and will benefit greatly. Again I cannot stress how essential these products are being used to benefit our ethnic hair and skin care program we provide here at Child Protective Services DSS. I’m so grateful you thought of us! Thank you!💛"
This thoughtful message from Shea highlights the incredible impact of providing tailored support for BIPOC foster youth, especially when it comes to their unique hair and skin care needs. During #blackhistorymonth , it's a powerful reminder that we must continue to uplift and empower the children and families we serve, particularly those from communities of color. The donation of ethnic hair and skin care products not only ensures that foster youth feel seen and respected, but it also helps to affirm their identity, dignity and cultural heritage. Supporting Black foster youth is not just an act of kindness; it’s a vital step toward healing and empowerment.
